4 oz. Crab Decoy Jig for Grouper & More
They are without a doubt the best dead stick option out there. Period.
The 4 oz. Crab Decoy Jig is the “weight and bait” all in one. Four ounces to get it to the bottom with a bait attached, and only a fluorocarbon leader, it’s the cleanest tackle possible.
How to plug a live or frozen cigar minnow: Go straight up through the bottom and out of the bridge of his nose and take the Stinger and put it in the underbelly of the cigar minnow. This is gag grouper candy. This technique is also great for American red, scamps, reds and you name it everything in the ocean.
A complete rigging from braided line and bead to fluorocarbon using a 130-lb swivel. Attach the Crab Decoy Jig using a loop knot. Attach pre-made stinger hook to the jig hook.
Just bait one up and give it a try. You’ll be the one that gets hooked in the end. Big grouper love ’em!
The jig includes the 7/0 stinger hook. Many anglers use these to fish for grouper, striped bass, nearshore drum, snook, and west coast bottom fish. It comes in 2 colors: red and hot pink.
NOTHING Out-fishes a Barefoot Crab Decoy Jig for Gags … PERIOD!

Satisfied Customer Testimonial from M. Perkins:
I purchased some jigs and tied one on my new jigging rod. I showed it to my captain, and he just laughed. He is a live bait (pin fish) bank sinker standard grouper tackle guy, and rightfully so, due to past success.
After about two hours of fishing, I had a customer ask if I had anything lighter that he could use. (His pole was heavy, and he was tired of jerking and whatnot.) I gave him my new jigging rod with the 4 oz. Crab Decoy Jig told him to keep the jig on the bottom and not jig it. The Capt. on the bridge was laughing. It took roughly a minute and a half, and WHAM, a SERIOUS fish on the other end of my new jigging rod. We had our doubts and thought it was probably a jack. When he came up, we saw it was a BIG gag. The customer loved it but couldn’t (physically) catch another one, so he gave the rod to his son. The Capt. was saying it was just “dumb luck.”
The son dropped the jig and bait combo back to the bottom, and sure enough, WHAM, again!! We were ALL believers right then and there. Needless to say, I tied Decoy Jigs on another couple of rods, and they had the same results.
If you look at the pictures, all gags and other grouper were caught on the Decoy Jigs. I just wanted to share this story with anyone like myself who had doubts about this system, hoping it will make you a little more confident about trying something new.
